By Faith
By faith, Abraham, when called to go to a place he
would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went.
Hebrews 11:8
This verse is taken from the wonderful chapter in Hebrews that encourages us to continue to trust in the Lord as our life experience unfolds. This morning Pastor Doug Pierce led our D/C Ministerial in looking at this verse as we begin the new season of ministry this fall. He observed that Abraham like many was pulled by the call of God upon his life to follow not knowing the outcome. The amazing thing is that he didn’t have too. It seems that he had all the resources necessary to live out his life in Ur. So why did he go? God called him to follow to a new promise and by faith he followed! His actions and faith revealed his true devotion to God. We like Abraham often find ourselves very comfortable and with the resources necessary to continue our lives as they are. But comfortable is not always what God wants for us. His desire is that we be like Abraham and live.., “like a stranger in a foreign country…looking forward to a city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” This call of God is part of our everyday life as a Christian. We too see ourselves as a people looking forward to the promise only God can provide.
As we enter into a new season of ministry God is opening new doors and new opportunities of serving our community. In a few weeks ministries will begin or restart following a summer of renewal and transition. These ministries include:
Our reason for moving forward in these ministries is to be God’s people who are faith filled and desiring to follow where He is leading just like Abraham. Join with us as we serve the Lord and continually seek His promise.
God has a plan for you.
Seek to know it.
The secret of the Lord is with them that that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.
(Psalm 25:14)
